Xcode won't build and run emptyExample

Xcode is successfully building other examples but when I try to build and run emptyExample (even building it in the location of the examples folder) it says “Build Succeeded” and nothing happens. No .app file has been created. When I press Command+R I get an OSX “donk” sound - apparently I’m not allowed to build and run - yet the menu play button responds and yet falsely reports success.

Does anyone know what is causing this because I literally cannot compile my own code anymore.

OSX 10.8.5 XCode 5.0

It might be the case that you are compiling openFrameworks instead of your project. Have a look at the active schemes dropdown in the top left corner of Xcode. This should be set to YourProjectName Release/Debug.
