Video Grabbing Resolution

I am playing around the movieGrabberExample and notice a lower resolution than specified when capturing from a firewire camera compared to the built in iSight.

I tested the same camera with maxMSPJitter (where the quality is significantly better with vmode=2) and it looks as if the ofVideoGrabber is using a preview mode (vmode=0 in maxMSP).

Is this correct, and is there a way to change the videomode?

I am using OSX 10.6 and the latest of-release (0061).

same problem here with my pal dv camera connected. the output of the movieGrabberExample looks jagged/lowres compared to other programs. e.g. this simple processing sketch…
