video doesn't play when using an open dialog

I am running OpenFrameworks v0.07 on OS X 10.6.8.

I am trying to play a video but If I use ofOpenDialog to select the video, the video will not play. The video does load and shows the first frame but it doesn’t play. If I call the play() method (on a keypress for example) the video advances one frame ( or so it appears ) and then stops again.

I believe it is the open dialog that is causing the problem because the video plays if I hardcode the path. I created a project that has the bare minimum to use the open dialog and play a video for testing this. This is the TestApp.cpp

The strange thing is that this problem doesn’t happen on all Mac’s. I have access to a 2nd mac also running OS X 10.6.8 and the video plays as you would expect for the same test project.

Any ideas on why it does not run on the 1st mac or what the difference could be?
