ofxiPhoneVidGrabber iPhone 4

hi,
just got in touch with OF for the first time and tried to get the AVCaptureDevice addon from jeff crouse here

http://www.jeffcrouse.info/how-tos/ofxi-…-ncviphone/

running on the iPhone 4. unfortunately there are some weird mapping problems

here is how the camera app on the iPhone sees it:

and here’s the output from the OF example app, iphone position unaltered.
[attachment=0:293qlz8n]ofView.jpg[/attachment:293qlz8n]

seems to be some kind of offset problem, probably regarding the Retina display. tried to find out where the mapping of the pixels take place but as I am so new to OF i couldn’t find it.

anyone else tried to make this running on iPhone 4? any other clues? thanks you!

second thing? anyone knows if AVCaptureDevice is supported on iPhone 3G? couldn’t make it running there and didn’t find any infos about the support for the 3G.

Hi @vgbnd
I’ve the same result on iPhone 4.
Have you found any solution for this…??

hi - we’re working on having videograbbing in the next release.

you can see a demo app that will come with the next release here:
http://github.com/openframeworks/openFr-…-erExample/

To try it grab the whole github and then run the example (making sure to change the SDK to the one you have ( either 4.0 or 4.1 )).
The example only works on the device and not the simulator.

Also note that the only iphone apps currently working in the github are that one and http://github.com/openframeworks/openFr-…-62DevTest/

Sorry guys! I think I got the pixel mapping wrong (the AVCaptureDevice documentation was confusing for me), and I didn’t end up using it in the project that I intended to, so I haven’t looked at it in quite a while. I’m sure the guys have gotten it right in Github.

Theo, any plans on an ofVideoPlayer for iPhone in the next release (using AV Foundation and Core Video, not FFmpeg)? I was planning on hacking one together based on Jeff’s project here, but don’t want to duplicate efforts. I’m just learning Objective C, so the effort wouldn’t exactly be trivial…

w0000t! it works! thank you!
of is freaking amazing!

Hi theo .

I download this version (openframeworks-openFrameworks-1a45947.zip) from github, but doesn’t work for me .
All examples give the same error :

Just out of curiosity - is this implementation of videograbbing for IOS4 only?

Cheers,
Christian

@chrisg,
videograbbing is only possible on iOS >= 4.1
