ofxCanon : download taken picture

Hi,

I’m trying to control a Canon 550D using the addon ofxCanon (https://github.com/roxlu/ofxCanon). Running the example, I can see the live view drawn to my window and I can also take a picture pressing space. But that’s as far as it goes. The image is never downloaded to the computer. Actually the listener set to EdsSetObjectEventHandler is never called (CanonEventListener::handleObjectEvent).

Anyone out there who could give me some help?

I’ve spent the last four nights until late trying to understand why, but didn’t find much. Could it be a thread issue? The only hint I got so far is that if I comment out line 15 of CanonConnection.cpp, I can get the live view on my screen. When uncommented, I can hear the camera changing the VF, but nothing shows up on screen.

void CanonConnection::run() {
//	Poco::Thread::sleep(3000);
	while(true) {
		if(!canon->isCameraConnected()) {
		...

Thanks in advance.

Bruno

I forgot to mention that I’m using Windows 7, Code::Blocks 10.05 and openframeworks 0072. The same thing happens on 007 as well.

Sorry to bring up an old post but I’m having the exact same problem!
Did you solve this? How?
I’m on Windows7 with CodeBlocks

It also appears the callback from the take picture command never gets called.
I’ve been trying for the past few days to solve this but i still have no idea why it happens!

Thanks in advance!

I didn’t find a solution for this problem. In the end I used https://github.com/elliotwoods/CanonCameraWrapper which worked just fine for what I needed. I hope it helps you too.

Great! I’ll try that addon instead! thanks! :wink:
