(myapp) was compiled with optimization - stepping may behave oddly; variables may not be available (lldb)

Hello all,

I’m trying to debug an application made with of 0.9.8 and am running into troubles with the xcode debugger; when I insert a breakpoint and start stepping thru, at some point i get:

[MyAppName] was compiled with optimization - stepping may behave oddly; variables may not be available (lldb)

I’m using XCode 8.2.1; I have turned off optimization in my project’s build settings, but I still get this error

Indeed stepping with the debugger behaves oddly; specifically, it behaves different than the same app running on a different macbook pro, and eventually gets caught in an endless loop.

My searchers for this complaint from (lldb) mostly bring up iOS/Swift/Unity related posts on stack overflow.
Has anyone come across this before?

Thank you,

Ali

Are you using the debug target?

Yes, debug target.

I have also turned off optimization for the release target, just in case.
