Alright. Can someone tell me how the fists/palm are segmented in this video here?

In the video, it appears that all he does is segment the depth map and keep whatever is closer to the kinect.

Wrt the palm / finger detection, I am pretty sure that some old code exists in

If I remember correctly, it was something that theo had written but I could be completely wrong.

It seems that this is what is done here:

If I wanted to detect the tips of the fingers of a hand, I would probably find points on the contour of high curvature. A technique to do this that works quite well is the one described in “Angle detection on digital curves” by Rosenfeld and Johnston. There are much newer techniques too and they are not that hard to implement.
