Interactive Wall

Another OF app I creatived.
Used for Smart Shanghai China Launch event.

Basicly it’s display a black background while nothing in front of the hidden camera. when people pass by or stand in front of the camera a hidden smart picture is display as a human shape (not necessary human, but anything in from of camera).

The performace is a bit slow due to antianalising, because they want a peferct outline shape without any pixels dots. Maybe someone can tell me your solution, see a lot of people doing realtime human tracking app.

Fun. I think the antialiasing issue depends on how the image resizing is done. If you do it using opengl, maybe applying a little blur or something… you could probably get a much faster implementation.

I wonder if, at some point in the distant future, people will make art that is purposely low-framerate in order to evoke “the good ol days” of interactive new media installation art.

cool ! nice work !

I’m not sure how you are doing it, but my technique, in order to do a good silhouette, is to do the blurring in a grayscale image based on tracking, and use the grayscale as an alpha channel for an image / video. I will usually not do this too large if I need to update every frame (say 640x480 for a 1024x768 screen, for example). to clean up noise, I do a bit of erosion/dilation, perhaps median filtering (but not often) and then some blur. I don’t do FSAA on the grahpics card since I can do it in pixels…

hope that helps –
take care,
zach
