External MIDI output from OF

Hello,

I am aware of how to generate MIDI signals between apps on the same computer, but I’m looking into a solution to control an external device using MIDI from OF. I know of a million USB MIDI devices, but my question is whether anyone knows if there is a standard USB driver that allows easy communication to the devices, or if there is a specific device that anyone has used with success. Overall I’m trying to better understand the workflow. I’m asking window specifically but anything that works on OS X as well is great.

What you are looking for are “class compliant” MIDI devices - then you don’t need any special driver, it should come with your OS. this is the only “standard solution” I’m aware of.
