Every example segfaults on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (64 bit)

I have OF working on several computers, however, I am getting a segmentation fault
running every example on this particular computer:

#0 __strcmp_sse2_unaligned () at …/sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/strcmp-sse2-unaligned.S:31
#1 0x00000000005d0e81 in chooseFBConfig ()
#2 0x00000000005d151a in _glfwCreateContext ()
#3 0x00000000005cf2af in _glfwPlatformCreateWindow ()
#4 0x00000000005c7b6d in glfwCreateWindow ()
#5 0x00000000005a44b4 in ofAppGLFWWindow::setup(ofGLFWWindowSettings const&) ()
#6 0x00000000005a6eae in ofAppBaseGLWindow::setup(ofWindowSettings const&) ()
#7 0x00000000004d1910 in ofMainLoop::createWindow(ofWindowSettings const&) ()
#8 0x00000000004c5a81 in ofSetupOpenGL(int, int, ofWindowMode) ()
#9 0x0000000000418a67 in main ()

I guess this call is from inside the glfw library, although I have several on my system, presumably Make is linking the example with the static library ofx/libs/glfw/linux64/libglfw3.a.

Any thoughts as to how to troubleshoot this? Should I compile the library from source and see if I can determine where it’s going off the rails?

what graphics card do you have on that computer?

It’s an NVIDIA Quadro M2200 (Computer is Dell Precision 7520). For the record, I once had the examples working on this machine, but I think a system update or perhaps a package installed by aptitude may have resulted in the segfaulting, but at least I know that the examples can work on this hardware.
