Even Infrared Lighting Distribution

Hey guys,
I am doing a IR light based tracking over a table, the IR lighting, the camera and the projector are looking down from above. I would like couple of opinions how to deal with lighting the table evenly and dealing with the hotspot which most affordable IR projectors beam.

I have tried couple of things that work, but still, if anybody have some other tricks under their sleeve, please share.

  1. turning the IR projector towards the ceiling, and using the reflection do temper the hotspot

  2. putting transparent paper over the IR projector also diffuses the light, but you loose a lot of the IR light power.

Any other ideas?

Ok, playing around with the the Gain of the Firefly and the Shutter of the Lens does make things better. Still, if anyone has something else to add…
