Easiest way to apply blur, glow... to basic shapes

Hi guys,

I was wondering what’s the easiest way to apply common effects like blur, glow… to basic shapes like circles or polygons. Is there any easy way at all?

I’ve been searching and found a few posts saying ofxShader is the way to go for blur but I haven’t found an fully working example or any other sort of tutorial.

I come from an AS3 background where doing this is a piece of cake and I know it won’t be THAT easy here but I thought this kind of filters are such a common thing for creative graphics that asking was worthy.

I’m interested in seeing some demos for these basic effects as well. You can do it with shaders, but it means implementing the effect yourself.

Another alternative is the Free Frame library: http://forum.openframeworks.cc/t/ofxfreeframe—ffgl-for-of/1091/0 which has a bunch of effects already implemented for you.
