CodeBlocks vs Visual Studio, libfreenect vs Kinect SDK

hi,

I would like to start my project with the components that come with the least amount of problems.
I will use oF, openCV and the Kinect on windows 7 64bit. I will only use the depth and color streams of the Kinect, no skeleton tracking. Which IDE/Compiler/lib combination would you guys recommend?

thanks
Chris

Hey

If you’ve done any C/C++ development on a unix-type platform, code::blocks might be better as it uses gcc, so you’ll get familiar error messages. However Visual Studio has some really awesome refactoring plugins that I’ve never seen available for gcc-based IDE’s, such as Visual Assist X (http://www.wholetomato.com/). Makes me almost wish I used windows!

cheers

Marek
