can kinect camera tilt ignore accel?

hey there,

we’re using kinect for an installation and want to have the camera pointing mostly downwards from above.

We were thinking that using the setCameraTilt would be great for fine tuning the angle, but realized today that as you move the camera, the tilt stays true to the gravity vector read from the accelerometer rather than the camera base.

I was looking through the freenect parts of the library to try to understand where this is happening… seems like it happens actually on the device. Has anyone been able to dissociate the two so the setCameraTiltAngle() call works when the camera is pointing down?
