Best approach for mapping image on cloth-like surface

I want to deform an image on a cloth-like surface. I currently have a grid of ofxMSAPhysics Particle3D particles connected by springs, and an ofMesh object to which I will bind the image texture.

What I’m unsure about is how I can use the particle grid to deform the mesh, since the particle grid has a far lower resolution than the mesh (which has one vertex per image pixel). Since not every mesh vertex corresponds to a unique particle, is there a way to use linear interpolation to get unique positions for vertices?

It would be great if someone could point me to an example or reference that explains how to do this.
