benefits of OF over plain OpenGL?

I am trying to evaluate the major differences between OF and plain OpenGL. Can someone point out some of the basic pros and cons of OF over OGL?

OF uses opengl, and you can call opengl directly from within openframeworks, ie:

glRotate, etc

some functions in opengl are wrapped up by OF, for example, drawing a rectangle, loading a texture, etc but if you look under the hood, you’ll find opengl.

I’m not sure how you would go about comparing the two, since OF is essentially a wrapper to opengl, freeImage, freeType, etc and our goal is to make things easy and convenient for you.
