Anti-aliasing question

Anti-aliasing doesn’t work on some of our Windows machines unless we call this in main.cpp for ofAppGlutWindow :

window.setGlutDisplayString( “rgb double depth alpha samples>=4”);
or this for older machines if the first one doesn’t work :
window.setGlutDisplayString( “rgb double depth alpha samples”);

However, anti aliasing (ofEnableSmoothing) seems to work in Mac OS X without calling those. How does it work then? Should I call it anyway to ensure complete compatibility with all possible Mac displays?


just discovered anti-aliasing and ofEnableSmoothing are two different things.
anti-aliasing is related to multisampling, smoothing to GL_LINE_SMOOTH.
